Laura Christensen Colberg
Eighteen years of real decision-making. Accountable only to you.
18 Years of Judicial Experience
Laura has practiced family law for 30 years and has served as a Court Commissioner pro tem in Snohomish County Superior Court for 18 of them — making thousands of decisions in real cases affecting real families.
No Political Debts or Bias
Laura is not a gubernatorial appointee. She owes no favors to any governor, legislator, or party. If elected, she will not need to recuse herself from reviewing laws signed by Governor Ferguson or anyone else. The Justice you elect answers to you.
Family Law Expertise
Every voter knows someone who has faced divorce, child custody, or the need for a protection order. None of our current Supreme Court Justices have brought experience in family law to the bench. Laura spent 30 years in family law — the last Justice with this perspective left the bench two decades ago.
Meet Laura
A lifetime of earning it
Laura grew up in Wenatchee, graduated valedictorian, and put herself through college at Seattle Pacific University working at Ken’s Market on Queen Anne — graduating summa cum laude before going on to the University of Washington School of Law. She has worked in some capacity since she was eleven years old.
She practiced family law for 30 years, serving as a Commissioner pro tem in Snohomish County Superior Court for 18 of them — where she was, in her own words, “immediately humbled at the scope of the workload involved.” She was a Rigos Bar Review lecturer teaching Family Law and Community Property. She is married to Jason Colberg, and has two adult sons and a granddaughter.
